Productivity?

Hello there, blog! Haven't seen you in a while! Well, to say nothing has happened in a while would be a major lie... I've just continued to be lazy and forget to maintain all these things.. I've decided the most painless way to update you is in the form of a list, so here ya go!

-Persephone died (3/30)

-I did a ghetto water change (it involved filling up plastic Tupperware and dumping, then repeat as necessary, then reverse.)

-My cousin is moving and all over her fish died except one, so I adopted him! Please welcome Hera (4/21) to the Underwater Empire! She will be a great friend to Aranyani after the fairly recent death of Persephone (Hera is a fancy guppy..).

- Speaking of Aranyani, I am lightly considering changing her name to Dionysus.., just cause whenever I look at her, that's what I want to call her... Thoughts? (Leave a comment!)

- I FINALLY buried all of the fish we've lost! What's it been? 3 months? 4? Sheesh. It felt good to finally be caught up with that. Now they can finally rest in peace! (In my defense, the ground was still frozen until like March, so really my laziness as an excuse only really applies to the last month or two.) I also rewrote all the gravestone markings because they were all rubbed off after all the winter snow. Hooray!

Is that all? I felt like I had so much more to tell you all... Huh. Well, If I remember anything dramatic, I'll be sure to update you guys (hopefully 😁)!

Oh yeah, and as a sidenote: none of my other tabs are updated right now because I have to be on a computer to do that (I'm writing all this via ipad..) and I haven't gotten around to it yet.. But expect it soon and goodbye!

An early TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY present!!!

In honor of the two year anniversary of having my tank, I got three new fish!! I got Rameses, a CORY to represent remembering the original fish from 2011, a GUPPY (I can't decide between Demeter or Dionysus for a name..)
to represent all the new friends we've gained since then (Persephone was all alone and needed a friend..), and Nyx (I named her that because Nyx is the god of the night, and she is midnight black, hence the name!) a PLATY (or molly?), an all new fish to represent the new adventures in the future! Here are some non-official pictures (I may keep the cory one, it's very nice!):

Exciting news!!!

It is my pleasure to announce that I have gotten two new fish today! Their names are Augustus and Hippocrates. Augustus is a pinky-orangey guppy with white streaks on his tail, and Hippocrates is a itty-bitty baby yellow apple snail. The reason why I got another snail is because Socrates' shell is growing algae, and I saw at the fish store that the little snails were cleaning the bigger snail's shells. So I'm hoping they'll be dearest buddies. :)  (I even made their names rhyme!!) I'll add some pictures to this post soon!

The Black Plague and a Hopeful Revival

Nefertiti

Messala
Akhenaten

RIP

I have countless tragic deaths to report. My tank was stricken with an untreatable, deathly disease. Fish after fish, The Aquatic Kingdom nearly fell to ruin. It started out with the unnamed (let's call him Sparta) fish. He died the night after I got him, the next day, I noticed Constantine was acting very strange. His mouth seemed to be stuck open. He was hiding and staying close to the heater. That night, I found him floating around. He appeared to be dead, but as I got out my net, he twitched! He was alive! What could I do? He was paralyzed and beyond my ability to help. It was so very miserable and painful to watch him suffer. I later found him dead, discolored and still. Because I had gotten both the fish only two days before, I brought the corpses to Petco for a refund/exchange. I didn't leave with any new fish. The next week, I lost the two baby Pachuses. They exhibited similar symptoms, so I did some research and found out it was incurable  A couple days later, the last and oldest Pachus died, also showing the same symptoms. I was devastated. I couldn't bear to buy more fish. The ground was frozen solid so (like Hades) I froze the bodies. Just as I was beginning to recover, yet another died. This is probably the most tragic and heartbreaking death yet---- this morning I found our dear Xerxes dead. Unlike the others, he showed absolutely no symptoms. He was the favorite of many, with his adorable mustache and 'hair'. He was one of the original fish, and probably the most dear to my heart. We will miss him. Okay, so are you feeling really sad now? Because now I have some good news! I welcomed three new guppies today! Their names are Nefertiti, Akhenaten, and Messala (From Ben-Hur)  I am most hopeful that they will live long, happy lives in my tank.

A Happy Tank with NEW FISH.

We welcomed FOUR new fish to the aquatic kingdom today- 2 male fancy guppies, 2 neon tetras! No longer will Athena and the remaining Pachus be lonely. The new tiny baby neon tetras will (as their ancestors) will collectively known as 'Pachus'. With the guppies, I am fond of the names Nefertiti,
Akhenaten, Caeser Augustus, Constantine, Septimus Severus, Trajan, Romulus, Remus, or Messala. I really dont know yet, but i'll keep you updated!! Meanwhile, my cousin is starting a tank of her own with my old 10 gal!

The legacy continues
