My Extreme Negligence, and the Consequences Thereof

HELLO AGAIN. (As you can probably tell from the title..) I have been one very negligent person as of late... Posting to my fish blog being one of the many things on the list of things I haven't been doing... Anywho! Probably at the top of that list is cleaning my fish tank. Before you ask, yes. Yes I finally did it. But it was nasty. I hadn't cleaned it in weeks.. Feast your eyes on the before/after below to see what I mean. It seems the dirtier my tank gets, the less motivated I am to clean it and even take care of my fish at all....(Yeah. I know, right? Usually it would be just the opposite.) Due to my laziness, we lost a couple fishes :(. Poor Nyx and another Pachus were lost as a result of my lack of responsibility. They shall be deeply missed. Because of the snowy weather, I couldn't bury them at the time of their death, but now rain and sunshine have come and melted the snow so now it's the next thing on my list, so expect a new post soon! Anyways, there's your quick little update! Happy end of February!

I did it!

Yes! At last I have cleaned my tank! And while I was at it, I let Aphrodite out.... for now. I also did some slight rearranging. (The water is too cloudy to take a good picture right now, but I'll post one soon.) Below are  just a fraction of the promised pictures that I took before vacation (the rest are being cropped and such...), and a link to a video that is rather disgusting. While cleaning my tank, I witnessed Hippocrates climbing over Zeus' face. :O  It's pretty bumpy and moves pretty slow, so bear with me :) Also, there may or may not be background music when you watch it...

Clean tank!

I always feel so great when I see a bright, healthy, clean tank! I keep forgetting what pleasure a clean tank gives me because I always put cleaning it off. I finally got around to it today. Report: All the fish are doing well, as usual, but the pores on my air stone are getting clogged, therefore only half of it blows bubbles :(

Just to bring you up to date....

So, I decided to take Poseidon out of the separator. He started to surface rest and looked sickly. I knew that if he died, I didn't want him to die a sad death, I wanted him to be able to swim free. So, I let him out and... VOILA! All the sudden, he's acting like nothing ever happened. Maybe it was the possum treatment, maybe he was jealous that his friends were hanging out without him, maybe he was just stressed... I don't know. So, yeah. I'll need to clean the tank soon. It's getting dirty. The algae wafers are starting to be fought over between Zeus, Caligula, and Xerxes. Speaking of Caligula, he's becoming more social, I see him alot more often, mostly at night. He's still a little shy, though. Well, there's your update!
